Because of President Bush’s lies, another Mainer is dead in Iraq. Nine Mainers now and over 800 Americans dead. Dead because of Bush’s lies. When will this slaughter end?

Bush lied about al-Qaida and Saddam Hussein. The French and the Germans said there was no connection and they were right. Saddam himself was on the al-Qaida hit list. Iraq, a weak dictatorship, was not a threat. Al-Qaida was. When will the slaughter end?

Bush lied about weapons of mass destruction. The United Nations inspectors said there were none. They were right. One needless war later, Bush has not found any weapons.

The United States bullied its way into the Middle East with ineffective international diplomacy. Imagine the $200 billion (borrowed from our kids’ future) dedicated to peace rather than fear and hatred or financing Israeli-Palestinian solutions. This might be a truly safer world.

Bush squandered the goodwill that was ours after Sept. 11.

Did al-Qaida invent George Bush? It looks that way.
