JAY – The town has been awarded two safety enhancement grants sought by employees.
Assistant Finance Director Lisa Bryant and Highway Department Supervisor John Johnson both applied for grants from the Maine Municipal Association Risk Management Services.
Bryant’s grant will pay two-thirds the cost, not exceeding $730, to buy safety training videos for all departments.
Johnson’s grant will pay two-thirds the cost, up to $1,300, to buy a hydraulic tailgate lift to help prevent back injuries.
Town Manager Ruth Marden said she was “very pleased and proud of both of these employees for being aggressive and going above and beyond applying for these grants.”
