BRUNSWICK – Eugene Frederic Babson, 93, a resident of High Street, Lisbon Falls, died unexpededly Wednesday morning, June 9, at Mid Coast Hospital.

He was born in Boston, Mass., Feb. 11, 1911, the son of Clifford M. and Grace (Currier) Babson Sr. He was educated in the grammar schools of Dorchester and was a 1928 graduate of The Dorchester High School for Boys.

He married Dorothy Dorr June 25, 1936. She died in February of 1970.

In 1970, he married Marjorie Sparsam Kroken. Mr. Babson had been employed by The Second National Bank of Boston from 1928 to 1936, from 1937 to 1944, was employed with Cape Ann Tool Co. of Rockport, Mass., and from1944, until his retirement in 1976, was employed at U.S. Gypum Co. of Lisbon Falls.

In 1962, he built a home on Mere Point where he enjoyed boating and gardening. He also owned a cottage on Birch Island for several years where he enjoyed lobstering as well.

Following Mr. Babson’s retirement he moved with his wife to Florida, having returned to Maine, in 1992. Being an avid bowler Mr. Babson also enjoyed bowling with the Lisbon Falls Senior Citizens. He was a member of the Lisbon Falls Rotary Club, The Lobster Club, Babson Historical Society, Androscoggin Valley Personal Assoc., and had enjoyed several years during his terms as a member of The Maine Highway Safety Committee, having been appointed by then Governor Kenneth Curtis.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years of Lisbon Falls; one son, David Babson and his wife Sandra of Wilmont, N.H.; one stepson, Randall Kroken and his wife Constance of Lisbon Falls; two stepdaughters, Mrs. David (Patricia) White and Miss Donna Kroken of Lisbon Falls; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Harold and Clifford Babson.
