The Class A State Championship baseball site has been moved to Hadlock Field in Portland. The game will be played on Monday, June 14 at 6 p.m.
The site has been changed in order to better accomodate the large crowd expected to attend the Mt. Ararat vs. Deering contest. Hadlock Field was not available on Saturday due to a Portland Sea Dogs’ committment.
The Class C State Championship game between St. Dom’s and George Stevens Academy will remain at Gorham High School, but will now be played at noon on Saturday.
Lombard activated, joins Sea Dogs today
PORTLAND – The Boston Red Sox have announced that outfielder George Lombard has been activated from the disabled list and will join the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs. To make room for Lombard ont he roster, right handed pitcher Jarrett Gardner was returned to Single-A Augusta.
Lombard has been in professional baseball since 1994. He has played 124 games at the Major League level in parts of five seasons with the Atlanta Braves, Detroit Tigers, and Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Lombard was signed as a free agent by the Red Sox on February 28.
