NEW GLOUCESTER – The 11-member SAD 15 board Wednesday named Alan Rich of New Gloucester chairman and James Hutchinson of New Gloucester vice chairman.
Rich was elected to a second term last week. He was chairman of the SAD 15 Finance Committee.
New board members include Sharon Vandermay of New Gloucester and Tami Plummer and Christine Small, both of Gray.
Superintendent Victoria Burns honored outgoing Chairman Dan Maguire of Gray, who lost his post in a three-way race June 8. She called him a thoughtful man with strong convictions.
In other business, the board contracted Portland-based Service Master to clean four district buildings for the next three years for $553,613.
The contract will begin July 1.The contract calls for cleaning Russell School in Gray, Memorial and Dunn schools in New Gloucester, and the SAD 15 administrative building.
The board reviewed a pending contract with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department for one full-time deputy to serve as Gray-New Gloucester High School’s resource officer for $44,156. Until this year a grant paid for the officer.
The officer also responds to incidents in all the district schools. The board is expected to approve the contract at its next meeting.
