LISBON FALLS – Paul Chizmar has filed to run for House District 104, which includes most of Lisbon, as a Clean Election candidate.
As a legislator, Chizmar’s first priority would be to provide a presence in Augusta, which he feels is presently lacking.
“I want to be a leader, not a label,” he said in a prepared statement. “I will vote for Lisbon in Augusta and not along party lines.”
He also would work to balance the state budget. “We need to pay as we go and stop running up huge budget deficits. Lisbon citizens need property tax relief and I will work for that in Augusta. Citizens on fixed incomes can’t afford the ever-escalating tax increases. As a selectman, I see this.”
Chizmar, a businessman and owner of Colonial Woodworks in Lisbon Falls, serves on the Lisbon Board of Selectmen.
The widower of longtime state Rep. Nancy Chizmar, he has committed himself to the service of the community since his wife’ death. “Anything that I can do to help the local citizens and help carry on the legacy of Nancy, I will do,” Chizmar said.
He is the father of four, all of whom graduated from Lisbon High School, and the grandfather of three. He has served on the Lisbon School Committee and has been past president of the P.T.A. He has been active with the Chamber of Commerce and the Exchange Club. He attended the University of Maine.
