I read Kalle Oakes’ column in the June 13 Sun Journal about gravesites being ransacked at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Little did I know at that time that I was to be a victim of such a dastardly deed.
My mother was very fond of pansies, so her son planted some very colorful pansies in a basket that was placed on her gravesite at Mount Auburn Cemetery on Mother’s Day. The basket, and the flowers in it, have been taken.
That despicable act has caused a great deal of anger and grief in our family.
I don’t understand how anyone can steal from the dead. Don’t such people have a conscience?
