WILTON – A clinical counselor is concerned for himself and his clients because windows in vehicles parked at his business have been shot out in the last couple of weeks.

Eric Rutberg runs The Center, a counseling service at 305 Main St., and did not open it Thursday, the day after the last shooting.

“There was no way to guarantee safety of my customers,” Rutberg said. “I needed time to think.”

On Friday, someone came forward with information, which Rutberg is giving to police.

Wilton police officer Kevin McCutcheon said it appears Rutberg is being targeted. He said suspects have been questioned.

Three vehicles were shot in the daytime with what police say is a pellet gun. Two of the vehicles are owned by Rutberg’s family.

Rutberg estimated damage at nearly $2,000.

He said he posted a $100 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person responsible.

“It’s shocking to have vehicles shot in the middle of the day,” Rutberg said. “I’m definitely worried about my safety.”
