AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA has hired Gary Dow as its first director of Communications and Financial Development.

In the position Dow will direct the marketing, public relations and communication aspects of the YMCA. In addition he will focus on fund-raising activities that include annual support, endowment development, special events and capital campaigns.

For the past 9 years Dow has been president of Uncle Andy’s Digest. Prior to that, he spent 20 years in the construction industry as a construction manager and consultant.

Dow graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a bachelor’s degree in business management in 1976. He has been a lifelong member of the YMCA and has been a YMCA board member for the past 14 years, serving as board president from 1999 to 2001.

He resides in Lewiston with his wife, Jane. He is the father of three grown children, Beth, Adam and Travis.
