WILTON – State Police investigators received three calls after Raymond “Butch” Weed’s family posted a $10,000 reward to find his killer. Police were hoping for more contacts.
Weed, a 40-year-old Wilton contractor, was found shot to death Dec. 23, 2003, in his home office on Main Street.
State Police Sgt. Walter Grzyb said he had expected more calls on the case after the reward was posted.
The calls trickled in after the stories appeared in the newspapers, Grzyb said.
It’s too early to tell if the information will pan out, he said.
A lot of times people call in once a reward is posted and have information that they heard second-, third- and fourth-hand thinking they may get some of the reward, he said. It takes a while to check out the information, he said.
The $10,000 reward is for information leading to the conviction of Butch Weed’s killer.
Anyone with information related to the case may contact state police at 1-800-228-0857.
