It’s time to stop beating up on Paul Madore. The election is over. Sen. Peggy Rotundo won fair and square, and she is to be commended for it. And although I didn’t agree with him on every issue, I still think Paul Madore showed great courage, intelligence and drive in his bid for office, and he has spoken for many people in this community, now and in the past.

It’s time now to bury the hatchet, come together as Americans to address the many critical issues facing this state and country in these awful days upon us.

It is unsportsmanlike and un-American to kick a man when he’s down. I hope Paul and his family, who know nothing of this letter, will not lose hope, and that his vital place at the table of Maine politics may yet be found in the days to come.
