LEWISTON – Tony Randall was shooting a television show in the Lewiston-Auburn area at the Poland Spring Hotel in May of 1968. Public relations representative Harriet Bernard of the Lewiston-Auburn Community Little Theatre saw him and invited him to make a visit to the theater’s clubhouse on Sylvan Avenue in Lewiston.

Randall agreed and arrived with lots of questions and interest in the theater group. He listened and asking many questions about the organization, how they produced their show, their equipment and the future plans.

During the meeting Randall was presented an honorary membership to Little Theatre. The membership was presented by Janet Gibson, then vice president of the theater’s board of directors.

Now, 36 years later, Gibson is again on the board, serving as secretary. She said she remembers fondly her brief encounter with Randall and his sincere interest in the theater group.
