AUBURN – Joshua LaPrell has been named assistant child-care director for the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA. As the lead pre-kindergarten teacher, LaPrell is responsible for planning and implementing the curriculum. He will also assist the child-care director with day-to-day operations and staff development.

LaPrell is a 2004 graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington where he received a bachelor of science degree in early childhood education and a minor in psychology. He has a great deal of experience working in Auburn recreation summer programs and has worked extensively with preschoolers at the nationally accredited Sweatt-Winter Childcare Center in Farmington.

LaPrell also coached boys and girls ages 7-8 in the Auburn recreation basketball program for five years.
