LEWISTON – Richard G. Davis, 84, of 550 College St., formerly of Wellman Street, passed away Thursday, June 10, at his residence.

Born at Walnut Hill, North Yarmouth, the youngest child of Herbert Francis and Jenettie Watson Davis, he was educated in Auburn schools, graduating from Edward Little High School in 1937, and attended Bates College and the Auburn Maine School of Commerce.

He worked for a short time at the Maine Central Railroad, before enlisting in the Air Transport Command in 1942, where he served for four years and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant.

After the war, he was employed by New England Telephone as a central office repairman. For the last 16 years of his employment, he was the central office manager for the Lewiston District. He retired in 1980.

Survivors include a daughter, Diane and husband, Marc Dubreuil of Connecticut; and two granddaughters, Maureen Dubreuil and husband, Logan Ingalls of Connecticut, and Shaun Marie Dubreuil of Connecticut.

He was predeceased by his wife, Frances Murray Davis; a son, David Richard Davis; one brother, Herbert Franklin Davis; and four sisters, Shirley Davis Schneider, Muriel Davis White, Grace Elizabeth Davis and Constance Davis Bickford.
