NORWAY – A Finnish American bake sale will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 10, at Dow’s Law Office parking lot on Main Street. Rain location will be the Second Congregational Church on Main Street. The sale is sponsored by the Finnish American Heritage Society of Maine.

Church yard sale

PARIS – A yard sale will be held by the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at the church on Route 117 north. The event, which will be held rain or shine, will feature white-elephant items, crafts, a baked goods table, morning coffee and snacks, books and clothing.

East Otisfield sale

EAST OTISFIELD – The Ladies Circle of the East Otisfield Baptist Church will hold its summer sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at the church on Rayville Road. The sale will offer handmade items, infant sets, toys and dolls, pillows, a spider web quilt, white-elephant items, and stainless steel cutlery. Also, baked goods, baked beans, sandwiches and punch will be sold for eating outside on church grounds, weather permitting.

Lobster roll luncheon

NORWAY – The Second Congregational Church Women’s Fellowship will hold its annual lobster roll luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at the church. Participants may eat in or take out. More information may be obtained by calling 743-2290.

Compost bins ready

OTISFIELD – The composting bins that residents have ordered through the town of Otisfield are in. They may be picked up from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Monday, Thursday and Friday. Or people may pull into the parking lot Tuesday or Wednesday and honk their horn.

Artists prepare for festival

NORWAY – Michael Raymond and Martha Grover are two of the 80 or more artists who will exhibit their artwork in the 32nd Annual Norway Sidewalk Art Show on Saturday, July 10. Raymond’s oil painting of his wife, Stacy, won third prize in the show last year. The Buckfield man shows a new work called, “Organic Machine.” Grover is a student at the University of Massachusetts working toward her master of fine arts majoring in ceramics. Her fanciful teapots are among some of the pieces that she will have on display.

Meditation classes

BUCKFIELD – A four-week Tai Ji Qi Gong series will be held in the gardens of Hedgehog Hill Farm during July. Qi Gong is a type of ancient Chinese exercises done with the breath to enhance internal energy and promote a sense of relaxation. Three different breathing patterns will be explored as a meditational experience. Classes will be held amid the flowering gardens.

The class will be taught by Betsey Foster. She has studied Qi Gong and T’ai Chi since the mid-1980s and has taught since 1993. She is also a Qi Gong student of Dr. Ywang Jwing-ming, Boston. Classes will meet from 6:30 TO 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, July 8-29, at 54 Hedgehog Hill Farm Road, Sumner. For information or to register phone 875-2426.
