SeniorsPlus needs help

RUMFORD – Volunteers are needed at SeniorsPlus, according to the agency. People who have a few hours during the week are being sought for the senior center on Congress Street. Help is needed in the dining room from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and in delivering meals to the Muskie Building at 10 a.m. People may phone Kim at 364-3572 for details.

West Paris sets new speed limits

WEST PARIS – There soon will be three speed limits on Pioneer Street instead of two, thanks to a state traffic study.

Town Manager Donald Woodbury said currently it is 30 mph from Main Street near the former bank building to the entrance to the transfer station, and 35 mph from the transfer station to outer Main Street or Route 219.

The three zones going into effect within the next couple of weeks will be:

• from Main Street to the James Burke residence, 25 miles per hour;

• from the James Burke residence to Allen Road, 30 miles per hour; and

• from Allen Road to outer Main Street or Route 219, 35 miles per hour.

Circle plans lunch at inn

RUMFORD – The St. Timothy Circle of the Daughters of Isabella will meet at noon Tuesday, July 13, for lunch at the Bethel Inn. Each person will order off the menu, organizers said.
