MEXICO – A Dixfield woman was summoned late Saturday afternoon for aggravated driving under the influence and driving without a license after an accident on Route 2.
Mexico police Sgt. Robert Gallant said Brona Kelley, 28, of Dixfield was driving west near Roland’s Automotive when she blacked out, causing her 1989 Oldsmobile to veer across the center line, crash through the guardrails, and tumble over an embankment. The two-door sedan landed in the trees.
Gallant said Kelley declined to take a Breathalyzer test, but admitted to drinking a beer while driving.
She was taken by Med-Care Ambulance to Rumford Hospital, where she was treated for facial injuries and released.
Traveling with her was her 1-year-old son, Darren LeClair, and Ashley Brown, 15, of Mexico. Neither passenger was injured. The infant was secured in a child safety seat, and both women were wearing safety belts, said Gallant.
Gallant said Kelley was summoned on a charge of aggravated operating under the influence because two juveniles were in the car with her. The vehicle was demolished.
Kelley is scheduled to appear Sept. 7 in 11th District Court in Rumford.
