SKOWHEGAN – The Margaret Chase Smith Library announce the winners of the eighth annual Margaret Chase Smith Essay Contest. The first prize of $500 went to Rebecca Leathe, a recent graduate of Marshwood High School in South Berwick.
Her essay will appear in an upcoming issue of the Maine Policy Review, which is published by the Margaret Chase Smith Center for Public Policy at the University of Maine at Orono.
The recipient of the $250 award for second place was Deanna Sawtelle, a home-school student from Albion. Third place and $125 went to David Sansoucy from Biddeford High School.
In addition, five honorable mention awards of $25 were present to: Emily Baker (Gray-New Gloucester High School), Erin Bilodeau (Lake Region High School), Jordan Davis (Katahdin High School), Sarah Dietsch (Marshwood High School) and Andrea Gammon (Portland High School).
