MEREDITH, N.H. (AP) -The driver of a boat involved in the death of a girl on Lake Wicwas will not face charges.

Eight-year-old Samantha Smith of Auburn was thrown from the seat of the boat driven by her aunt, Michelle Smith of Framingham, Mass., last Saturday.

Samantha fell in the water and hit the boat’s propeller.

Her father was water-skiing behind the boat at the time. Her mother was riding in the boat.

The New Hampshire Marine Patrol said the investigation so far shows no sign of negligence by Michelle Smith, 36. Officers are still waiting for results of toxicology tests.
