AUBURN – Seven have signaled their intention to seek City Council seats in November.

The seats for all seven city councilors, seven School Committee representatives and Mayor Norm Guay are up for re-election this year.

City Clerk Mary Lou Magno said six people have taken out nomination petitions:

• Jodd Bowles, of 239 Lake St., for the Ward 2 seat held by Richard Livingston;

• Donna L. Rowell, of 95 Monroe St., for the Ward 4 seat held by Marcel Bilodeau;

• David R. Vaillancourt, of 17 Gill St., for the Ward 5 seat held by Belinda Gerry;

• Ronald W. Potvin, of 11 Oak St., for one of two at-large seats;

• Eric G. Samson, of 28 Windemere Way, and Charles E. MacDonald, of 400 Fletcher Road, both for the Ward 3 seat held by incumbent Joe DeFilipp; and

• Gary E. Baillargeon, of 144 Broadview Ave., has taken out petitions for both the Ward 1 seat held by Bethel Shields and one of two at-large seats. Baillargeon can only run for one seat, Magno said.

As of Tuesday, no incumbent councilor had taken out petitions and no candidate had taken petitions for the seven School Committee seats.

Candidates have until Sept. 13 to collect signatures from registered Auburn voters. People seeking the five City Council or five School Committee ward seats need to collect 25 signatures from registered voters living in their wards. Those seeking the two City Council or two School Committee at-large seats need to collect 25 signatures from registered voters from anywhere in the city.

Candidates for the mayor’s chair need to collect 100 signatures.

Magno said the candidates can begin turning in their petitions on Sept. 3. The municipal election is scheduled for Nov. 2.
