I have been very disgusted by the things the Sun Journal has published in the past, but this takes the cake. I was so repulsed. I speak of the editorial cartoon that appeared in the July 8 issue. There are two American soldiers shown in that cartoon, which is supposedly portraying Guantanamo Bay.

I could not believe my eyes. The soldiers were portrayed with Hitler-style mustaches. Not only that, but the soldier in the foreground was actually drawn so as to have a very similar look to Hitler.

Now I’m all for freedom of the press, but this is so disgusting to me. Why was this allowed to be published? The Sun Journal has crossed the line on this one.

Those hardworking young men and women are busy protecting us, putting their lives on the line and this is what they get from the Sun Journal? Whoever is responsible for that should be ashamed of himself.

The Sun Journal owes the United States military and their families a real big apology.

Editor’s note: Editorial cartoonist Bill DeOre of the Dallas Morning News says he did not depict U.S. soldiers as Hitler. According to DeOre, no Hitler reference was intended and he has received no similar complaints about the cartoon. Readers can judge for themselves.
