SOUTH PARIS – The State Cal Ripken Baseball Tournament is scheduled to begin Saturday, July 17 at Constitution Field at the newly-dedicated Dennis Rugg Complex on Oxford Street. The tourney continues next week, with the championship game slated for Wednesday, July 21.

The tournament involves players 12-under who will represent seven districts. In addition, there will be an eighth entry, a host team. It’s a double-elimination format with the winner advancing to the New England Regional Tournament for a chance to play in the Cal Ripken World Series.

The Cal Ripken League, formerly Bambino League, is a division of Babe Ruth Baseball, Inc. It is equivalent to Little League .

Admission is $2 each day for anyone 16 or older. All proceeds will benefit the Paris Parks and Recreation.

Following is the tournament schedule:

Saturday, July 17: Game 1, 10 a.m., Sebago Long Lake (District 2) vs Andy Valley East (District 3); Game 2, 12:30, Eliot (District 1) vs Maranacook (District 5); Game 3, 3:00, Brunswick (District 4) vs Andy Valley West (host team); Game 4, 5:30, Winthrop (District 6) vs Woodland-Calais (District 7).

Sunday, July 18: Game 5, 10 a.m., Loser 1 vs Loser 2; Game 6, 12:30, Loser 3 vs Loser 4; Game 7, 3:00, Winner 1 vs Winner 2; 5:30, Winner 3 vs Winner 4.

Monday, July 19: Game 9, 3:45, Winner 5 vs Loser 8; 6:00, Winner 6 vs Loser 7.

Tuesday, July 20: Game 11, 3:45, Winner 9 vs Winner 10; Game 12, 6:00, Winner 7 vs Winner 8.

Wednesday, July 21: Game 13, 3:45, Winner 11 vs Loser 12; Game 14, 6:00, winner 12 vs Winner 13 (Championship round).

Thursday, July 22: Game 15, 5:30, Winner 14 vs Loser 14 (If necessary).
