LIVERMORE FALLS – Selectmen will hold a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. today to take comments on a no-parking petition for Highland Avenue and the tree streets.

Seventy-five citizens have signed the petition supporting a ban on parking on the west side of Highland and on the south side of Cedar, Oak, Maple, Chestnut, Walnut and Birch streets.

People attending school events, including awards ceremonies, concerts and sports, use these streets for parking. Petitioners are reportedly concerned about safety. Parking on both sides makes it difficult for pedestrians and to get by.

The board will open its regular session at 6 p.m. today to discuss the downtown planning report.

After the hearing, the board will discuss applying for grants and loans for the Main Street sewer line project, and a household hazardous waste contract.

At 7 p.m. the board is scheduled to meet with the Library Association. It is then scheduled to discuss the license fee for the pawn shop, and discuss the proposed adult-business ordinance and proposed adult-business moratorium on the July 21 ballot.
