FARMINGTON – Colonial Daughters Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, met at the Granary Restaurant on June 22 with 20 members and five guests present.

Regent Connie Hiltz had invited four 50-year members to be honored at the luncheon. Madeline Frend, as the newest 50-year member, was presented an engraved silver tray by Registrar Elaine Wells. Also attending was Clarice Sturtevant. Lois Fellows and Leona Woolsey were unable to attend.

Amanda Goodwin, a sophomore at the University of Maine at Farmington, told the members of finding a gravestone of a Civil War veteran in the family cemetery in West Freeman.

After much red tape to prove his service, a new headstone was installed. Photos of the project were shared with the members. An honor guard from the American Legion was present at the service unveiling the new headstone.
