AUGUSTA – Maxine H. King, 91, a resident of Annabessacook Road, North Monmouth, died Sunday, July 18, at MaineGeneral Medical Center.
She was born in Farmington, on April 23, 1913, the daughter of Bartlett and Elizabeth (Dill) Hammond. She attended school in the Strong schools.
In 1936, she married Irving King, he passed away January of 1983. She worked as a school teacher in Monmouth, Kents Hill and Fayette Elementary. She was a member of the National Teachers’ Association, Maine Teachers’ Association, Androscoggin Retired Teachers’ Association and the North Monmouth Community Church.
She is survived her daughter, Erma Tobias and her husband, William, of Florida; two sons, Ronald King and Rodney King, both of Panama City, Fla.; a sister, Vivian Hinkley, of Livermore; seven grandchildren, Rodney King Jr., Gwendolyn McFarland, David Veinott, Clifford Veinott, Robert Veinott Jr., Violet Watkins and Robin Robinson; two stepgrandchildren, Andrew Tobias and Jennifer Tobias; 29 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Susan Marie Cox and Lorraine Veinott.
