NORWAY – The Unitarian Universalist Church of Norway, 479 Main St., is presenting a summer program, “Cakes for the Queen of Heaven, too,” for women and high school girls.

Three summers ago, the church offered the feminist theology course that has revolutionized the relationship of deity with humanity. The focus was on discovering and reclaiming the sense of the Goddess in faith traditions and in lives.

Persons attending this summer are considering the importance of the Goddess and the voices of women in developing and moving relationships based on compassion and diversity.

Most sessions are two hours, but there may be an occasional “double session.” The planning for how the program will be implemented this summer continues and will depend on those who are interested in being involved.

Sessions run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Participants are invited to attend some or all of the sessions. The fee for the course is $15.

The remaining schedule is as follows: July 27, “Reclaiming the Female Presence in Judaism” and “Discovering the Voices of Women in Judaism”; Aug. 3, “Gnostic Christians as Kindred Spirits”; Aug. 17, “Mary and Mary Magdalene” (including video); Sept. 7, “Witchcraft”; Sept. 21, to be announced.

For more information or to sign up, contact the church at 743-2828 or e-mail [email protected]. For questions about the program, contact the Rev. Helen Zidowecki, who is organizing the sessions, at [email protected].
