STANDISH (AP) Divers recovered the body of a man who apparently drowned while swimming in a pond Thursday morning.

The body was located at about 5:30 in Otter Pond, located off of Route 35 near the southern end of Sebago Lake, said Sgt. Kerry Joyce of the Cumberland County Sheriffs Department.

Joyce said the victim appears to be in his 20s and lives out of the country.

He said the victims identity wont be released until his relatives are notified.

Searchers from the Standish Fire Department, the Maine Warden Service and the sheriffs department responded after officials received a call at about 3:30 a.m. about the missing swimmer, Joyce said.

The victim was with a group of about 10 people who were at the pond cooking out and swimming, Joyce said.
