FARMINGTON – People from St. Luke’s Episcopal Church of Wilton will sell lobster lunches beginning at 11 a.m. until they are sold out on Friday, July 30, at Meetinghouse Park during Moonlight Madness.

The lunch includes a lobster roll, chips, homemade brownie and a soft drink for $8.50.

People can order lunches by calling the church at 645-2639 by 10 a.m on Friday. Business deliveries are available in the Farmington area by placing an order at the church by 10 a.m. Friday.

Bean-hole bean supper, Aug. 7

STRONG – The 35th annual Bean-hole Bean Supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Strong Beach on Porter Lake, or at the Forster Building in case of rain.

The menu includes bean-hole baked beans, franks, salads and desserts, rolls and beverages for $5 for adults and $2.50 for children 4 to 11. Children under 5 eat free.

The dinner is offered by the Porter Lake Association to support activities such as swim programs, dam maintenance and educational projects to protect and support lake quality.

Strong Beach can be reached from Route 234 or from the Taylor Hill Road off Route 27 in New Vineyard.

Free workshop on wild edible plants

RANGELEY – The Natural Science Program at the Wilhelm Reich Museum on Dodge Pond Road will host a free nature workshop titled “Wild Edible Plants” from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, at the sheltered classroom.

Mare Nazaire, a botanical taxonomist from the Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge, will discuss identification of plants, which parts of the plants can be eaten and how plants are prepared. She will provide harvesting guidelines and lead a hike on the museum trails to identify and observe different edible plants.

The outdoor workshop will be held rain or shine. Participants should meet at the sheltered classroom at Orgonon and dress for weather and bug conditions. Sturdy shoes, bug spray and bottled water are recommended.
