PARIS – A Paris man was arrested Tuesday night after a pickup truck crash on Western Promenade, according to the Paris Police Department.
Christopher Raasumaa, 29, of 76 Western Promenade, was driving a 2001 Ford Ranger northwest about 10:10 p.m. when it left the right side of the road and hit a telephone pole, Sgt. Michael Daily said Wednesday.
Daily did not have an estimate of damage to the truck or pole.
Raasumaa was arrested at the scene and charged with operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
“He made a statement that an animal was in the roadway, but I think it was more speed- and alcohol-related,” Daily said.
Raasumaa was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital for treatment and booked at the Oxford County Jail, Daily said.
Jail officials said Raasumaa was released on $500 bail at 1 a.m. Wednesday.
