RUMFORD – The SAD 43 board will decide on Monday whether to fund a fuel storage tank at Mountain Valley Middle School.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the library of Mountain Valley High School.

Superintendent James Hodgkin said he will ask for permission to spend about $20,000 from the district’s capital improvement account for a 10,000-gallon tank that will hold diesel fuel. He said buying in bulk will reduce the per-gallon cost. The town of Mexico and Region 9 School of Applied Technology have also shown interest in cooperating in the bulk purchase.

In a related matter, the board will award the contract for the purchase of 52,000 gallons of diesel fuel.

The board will act on the resignation of longtime speech and language teacher Mary Michaud. Several teacher appointments will also be made. Among them are two for the district’s newly created Day Treatment Program scheduled to start in a section of Meroby Elementary School in the fall.

Other agenda items include action on the revised high school student handbook, several appointments for coaches or educational technicians, and action to continue two Title I math specialists’ positions.
