PARIS – Reading is Fundamental had another successful year. Through the read-a-thon, 446 students raised $13,513.18. Last year’s total was $10,289.

The students met the challenge by reading hundreds of books. There were 107 ice cream social invitations given to the students who raised more than $50 or were top readers. Last year’s invitations totaled 84. The program provided more than 2,000 students, grades kindergarten through six, three books again this year.

The program has been in the Oxford Hills SAD 17 for 25 years, and McDonald’s has been sponsoring the program for more than 20 years.

The district results of the read-a-thon were: kindergarten through grade three top readers: first, Dakota Wendell; second, Hope Godin; and third, Libby Dunham. grades four to six: first, Kevin Ouellette; second, Breeanna McAllister; and third, David Nelson.

The top pledges were: kindergarten through grade three: first, Hope Godin; second, Zachary Todd; and third, Libby Dunham; grades four through six: first, Melissa Strauss; second, Kaylee Millett; and third, Forrest Brenske.
