PORTLAND, Maine – Stefan Bailie and Mike O’Keefe hit solo homers, Mike Lockwood had a two-run triple and Abe Alvarez pitched six shutout innings as the Portland Sea Dogs defeated the Erie SeaWolves 4-3 Monday in the Eastern League.
Curtis Granderson belted a three-run homer for the SeaWolves.
After three scoreless innings, Bailie’s line shot over the left-field scoreboard put Portland (51-57) ahead 1-0 in the fourth.
O’Keefe led off the seventh with a homer and Lockwood’s two-run triple into the right-field corner capped the inning.
The SeaWolves (56-49) got back into the game in the top of the ninth when Anderson Hernandez reached on an error, David Espinosa walked and Granderson homered over the right-field fence.
Alvarez (9-7) struck out four, walked one and allowed only two singles over six innings to earn the win. Erie starter Matt Roney (8-9) gave up all four Portland runs and took the loss.
