EAST LIVERMORE – Phillip R. Smith, 74, of Haines Corner Road, East Livermore, died Sunday, Aug. 1, at his home.

He was born in Farmington, Aug. 13, 1929, a son of John and Doris (Ross) Smith. He received his education in Jay schools. He was employed as a millwright at Carlton Woolen Mills for many years and had his own autobody shop on Rt. 17 in North Jay.

Mr. Smith was a veteran of the United States Navy and was an avid sports fan who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by three sons, Eric Smith, of Jay, Bruce Smith, of Vermont, and Mike Smith, of New Port Richey, Fla.; a daughter, Nancy Smith, of New Port Richey, Fla.; three brothers, Jack Smith, Maurice Smith, and Butch Smith, all of Jay; three sisters, Inza Stanley and Myrtle Allen, both of Jay and Beverly Cox, of North Jay; grandchildren, Dakota, Phillip, Chris, Mike, Deric, Troy, Stephen, Amanda, Amity, and Amy; six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Arnold in 1942; and a grandson, Corey Smith in 1999.
