I want to respond to all who have written letters to the editor on my behalf. The controversy that is brewing in Poland is a sad one. There are two issues as I see it.

First, the two selectmen who have voted not to reappoint me have given me no reason why, and according to Title 1 section 407.2 of Maine law, they must do a written finding of fact available to the public and me. That has not been done.

Second, the vote was a questionable one, and when I requested they get a legal opinion they declined. I am angry at the process and the members and feel if this board of selectmen represents the town of Poland, I am ashamed that this is my representation.

But to end on a happy note, I wish to thank all of the people who attended the meeting of July 20 and spoke so favorably about me, and those of you who wrote letters and those who signed the petition.

I do not know the outcome of this fiasco, but I will tell you that I do care about the town and the direction it is going. If they want me out so badly, I would sure like to know their agenda.

Sue Ellis, Poland
