CASCO – The annual picnic of the Raymond-Casco Historical Society will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at the top of Hacker’s Hill on Quaker Ridge Road.
Those attending should bring their own place settings and a potluck dish to share. All members, guests and new members are welcome.

AUBURN – Auburn AC Serve (SHARE), part of Serve New England’s food and volunteer program, will have its alternate registration date for the Aug. 28 Distribution Day from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at the Auburn Advent Christian Church, Whitney Street entrance. OES meeting
WALES – At the “In the Good Old Summertime” meeting of Lakeside Chapter 60, Order of the Eastern Star, on July 13, Worthy Matron Violet Gerber was presented her two-year commission as grand representative to the Grand Jurisdiction of South Dakota in Maine.
Corley Ann Byras, grand secretary of Maine, made the presentation for Worthy Grand Matron Alice Webber, who was unable to be present.
Lakeside will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, at the Grange-Masonic Hall on 322 Centre Road. The topic will be “Summertime, When the Living Is Easy” to honor farmers.
There will be a salad and sandwich supper for members and visiting members to benefit the scholarship at 6:30 p.m. Donations of $4 will be accepted.

AUBURN – Parents and caregivers are invited to have their child’s safety seat inspected to make sure it is being used correctly.
The Child Health Center, in collaboration with the Maine Coalition for Safe Kids, offers free safety seat inspections at the following locations: Auburn Police Department, every second Monday of each month, 2 to 6 p.m., and Mexico Wal-Mart, every first Friday of each month, noon to 4 p.m.

Puppy classes
AUBURN – Great Falls Dog Obedience Club will start a six-week obedience class on Wednesday, Aug. 11, in Auburn. Makes tour
LEWISTON – Ryan Landry, son of Denis and Debbie Landry of Lewiston, recently toured England and France as a delegate with the People to People State Ambassador Program. Landry traveled with 35 other delegates from Maine.
This is Landry’s second trip as an ambassador for the state. His first journey was backpacking through Yellowstone National Park.
The program was founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in an effort to “bring the world together through education and friendship while experiencing a wonderful journey of discovery.”
