LEWISTON – Joseph A. Gagne, 102, formerly of 22 Biron Ave. died Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion with his family at his side.

Born in Lewiston, Feb. 17, 1902, a son of Napoleon and Odelie Pomerleau Gagne. He was educated in Lewiston schools and was married to the former Ophilia Landry Nov. 15, 1926. She died Jan. 23, 1993.

He worked as a lead man at Portland Shipyard during World War II, Hall & Knight for 21 years and retired from Worumbo MIll in Lisbon in 1966. An avid Red Sox fan, he remembered them winning the World Series in 1918. He enjoyed playing the harmonica, piano and horseshoe.

Mr. Gagne was a member of Holy Cross Parish, Knights of Columbus Holy Cross Council 12652 3rd degree.

He is survived by his daughters, Mrs. Roger Anita Chamberland, of Lewiston, Jeannette LaCasse, of Sabattus, Mrs. Raymond Doris Masse, of Lewiston; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Gary Chamberland; a granddaughter, Robin LaCasse; and a brother, Alfred Gagne.
