FARMINGTON – Prudence E. Doak, 85, of North Jay, died Monday, Aug. 2, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

Born at Parker Ridge, N.B., Canada, Aug. 12, 1918, a daughter of the late James E. and Mary (Taylor) Boies, she attended school in Blissfield and was a graduate of Fredericton High School Class of 1934, and attended a culinary arts school in Fredericton, N.B.

On Sept. 4, 1939, she married Nelson E. Doak. She owned and operated a restaurant in Boiestown, N.B. After moving to Maine, she was a caregiver to Frances Sturtevant.

Mrs. Doak loved to cook and she baked pies for many people. She enjoyed reading and gardening and traveled to England, Florida and Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.

Mrs. Doak is survived by her son, Nelson B. Doak and his wife, Hazel, of Farmington; sister, Annie B. Norton, of Farmington; sister-in-law, Beatrice Boies, of Fredericton, N.B.; brother-in-law, Everett Doak and his wife, Doris, of Fredericton, N.B.; sister-in-law, Birdena Hovey, of Fredericton, N.B.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of over 54 years, who died 1993; and 10 brothers and sisters.
