RANGELEY – The Rotary Club of Rangeley is sponsoring the annual Doubles Tennis Tournament on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 28 and 29, at the Rangeley and Oquossoc Tennis Courts.
The tennis double teams are men’s, women’s and mixed doubles. The age groups for doubles play are 6-12, 13-19, 20-35, 36-53, 54-69, and 70 and over. All teams in the early tennis rounds play two out of three sets with a 1,2,3 scoring system. Teams that advance to the quarterfinals and beyond play a regular scoring system of deuce, advantage and a tie-breaker set of 7 by 2 games. Participants may enter one or two double teams. Trophies will be awarded to the winners and runners-up in each age group. The entry fee for each player is $20 for each event. Children ages 6 to 12 are free.
Applications for the Rotary Doubles Tennis Tournament may be picked up at the Rangeley IGA, Red Onion, Chamber of Commerce or the Oquossoc Bulletin Board.
