BETHEL – A wide range of activities is planned for the 25th annual Sudbury Canada Days on Aug. 13-15 on the grounds of the Bethel Historical Society’s Regional History Center.

On Friday evening will be the Hall Memorial Lecture delivered by Elizabeth De Wolfe of the University of New England, titled “Fighting Pious Frauds and Base Deceptions: Anti-Shakerism in New England.” It will be held in the Dr. Moses Mason House Exhibit Hall, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday at 10 a.m., the horseshoe pitching tournament will begin. At 1 p.m. the Children’s Parade will begin the official festivities. The theme for this year’s parade is “Molly Ockett and Local Folk.” During the afternoon there will be craft exhibits, flower show, historical videos, art show, old-time children’s games, a farming and logging exhibit, badminton and croquet tournaments, the ice cream eating contest, and the log driver’s bean supper.

After the supper, Gary Fuller will present some of the lore of the Civil War.

On Sunday, the flower show, historical videos and the farming and logging exhibit will continue. There will also be an open house at the 1895 Lower Sunday River Schoolhouse in Newry from 1 to 4 p.m., and an old-time hymn sing at the Middle Intervale Meeting House at 7 p.m. Further information is available at 824-2908 or (800) 824-2910.
