LISBON – H. Courtenay Fenn, who was tied in a 101-101 vote with Warren Greim for a seat on the Charter Commission in Saturday’s election, has filed a notice of withdrawal with Town Clerk Twila Lycette.

His decision clears the way for the new commission to begin working on a charter, now that a runoff election is unnecessary.

Fenn, who served on the governance study committee that recommended a Charter Commission, said his decision to withdraw was simply a “matter of why should the town go to the expense of running another election?” He said, “If the committee needs me I’m available.”

He said he has sent each member of the commission a letter outlining his opinions and his willingness to help them if needed.
