CHICAGO -Khalil Greene singled home the go-ahead run in the 11th inning and the San Diego Padres beat the Chicago Cubs 5-4 to move within a game of the NL wild-card lead.
The Padres tied the game at 4 in the eighth on Brian Giles’ RBI single off Mike Remlinger after Nomar Garciaparra hit a two-run homer in the seventh to give Chicago the lead.
The game was twice delayed by rain for a total of 78 minutes on a chilly day at Wrigley Field, where the temperature at the start was just 60 degrees.

With two outs, Greene hit an 0-2 pitch from Ryan Dempster (0-1) through the hole into left field to put the Padres in front.
