NORWAY -Debi Irons, artistic director of Art Moves Dance Project, announced new teachers and a new studio in Bethel.
Joanna Patterson, 27, who moved to Maine to dance with the now dissolved Ram Island Dance Co., is now a member of the Art Moves Dance Co. She will be teaching technique classes at Art Moves Dance Studio on Cottage Street in Norway. These classes are for the serious student age 10 and older and incorporate the vocabulary of modern and ballet. Patterson dances with the Portland Ballet.
Irons will be teaching variantdance (jazz based), dance games (variant dance for 4- to 6-years-olds), and hip-hop (middle school ages and older) on Thursdays at the Spring Street Studio in Bethel. Variantdance uses developmentally appropriate techniques of modern, jazz, ballet, Latin, African, musical theatre, sacred and street dance along with self-expression and creativity.
Amy Scott, who joined Art Moves Dance Co. in 2003, will be teaching her balletic modern dance technique class in Bethel to dancers age 10 and older.
Sasha Campbell, a senior dancer with the teen Art Moves Dance Group, will be teaching a beginning hip-hop class for those in middle school and older. She will also teach a tap class to those age 10 and older.

Open house in Bethel is Sept. 1 and in Norway on Sept. 2. Both are from 3 to 7 p.m. and will include free sample classes and demonstrations.
