WILTON – An 11-year-old Wilton boy was arrested last week after police investigated a report that he sexually assaulted two younger boys.
Wilton police received a complaint Aug. 10 from the parent of two Wilton boys, aged 5 and 6, claiming that the older boy had molested the two younger ones at a residence there on Aug. 8.
Wilton police Officer Terry Warren and Franklin County Detective David St. Laurent interviewed the three boys involved, later charging the 11-year-old with two counts of gross sexual assault. St. Laurent said there is probable cause to believe the incident did occur.
The boy was released to his mother under house arrest and strict conditions that he have no contact with the two other boys, or with anyone under the age of 11.
His parents, St. Laurent said, were stunned and upset but were supportive of police efforts.
St. Laurent said he believed this is the juvenile’s only encounter with police.
The 11-year-old is scheduled to appear in juvenile court in October. If convicted, he could be placed on probation or be required to undergo counseling, St. Laurent said.
