LIVERMORE FALLS – Six members of the Livermore Falls High School graduating class of 1939 met for a 65-year reunion on July 17 on the patio of Maple Lane Inn and Golf Course.
Present were Margaret Stevens Dearborn of Auburn and her daughter, Dorothy, and husband, Jim; Ervine Hickey Bonnevie of Livermore; the Rev. Vernon Jordan, his wife, Dorothy, and their daughter, Elaine Chandler of Warren; Andrew Botka of East Hartford, Conn.; Gloria Dumais Wagner and husband, Robie, and Francis Merkle and his wife, Helen, all of Livermore Falls.
Jordan offered a prayer and Francis Merkle made a few remarks. Margaret Dearborn read some original remarks that pertained to their lives and the people of the country. Letters were read from classmates who were unable to attend. A luncheon was held. “Andy” Botka presented each woman with a box of salt water taffy kisses.
Since the last reunion five years ago, it was noted the class has lost three more members, leaving 19 classmates.
It was voted to hold another reunion next year at the same location. Merkle offered to make arrangements and notify the class members.
