• Aug. 16, 9:30 a.m. – A Maine Avenue resident reported that someone had illegally entered her vehicle during the overnight. The police report has yet to be completed.

• Aug. 15, 8 p.m. – A Loch Ness Road resident reported that a woman was kicking her door. She was gone when police arrived.

• Aug. 14, 6 p.m. – A Route 108 resident reported that a black bear was eating from his bird feeder. The bear left before police arrived. The resident was told to take in his bird feeders.

• Aug. 11, 11:59 a.m. – A Falmouth Street resident reported the theft of returnable bottles and towels from her porch. The loss was estimated at $31.

• Aug. 11 – An Indian girl statue on the Androscoggin River shoreline behind the information booth on Bridge Street was reported to have been broken off its stand. Damage was estimated at $50.

Rumford

• Aug. 11 – An investigation was launched into a possible case of sex abuse of a child. Detective Sgt. Stacy Carter said that information about the incident, which occurred between 2000 and 2003, was received on Aug. 4.

• Aug. 10 – Dennis Wotton, 52, of Rumford, who was driving a Courtesy Cab, struck a moose on Route 5. Med-Care Ambulance medics were dispatched because Wotton thought he had fractured his hand, Carter said.

When an officer arrived, the wreck on the Andover Road was determined to be in the jurisdiction of Oxford County Sheriff’s Department. Deputy Sgt. Chris Wainwright took over.

• Aug. 10 – An anonymous caller reported that a tractor-trailer truck was hung up on a guardrail on Route 108.

• Aug. 10 – Vehicles driven by Heidi Halacy, 31, of Rumford, and Dawn Morton, 44, of Andover collided on Route 232 while one driver was turning into a driveway. Damage to Halacy’s 2001 Dodge pickup was estimated at $1,000; to Morton’s 1992 GMC Jimmy, $200.

• Aug. 10 – Some hanging flower pots on Congress Street were dumped.

• Aug. 9, 9:35 p.m. – A Livermore resident reported that Maine Avenue residents in Rumford found pornographic material in their apartment. An officer was assigned to the case.

• Aug. 9, 6:19 p.m. – An unoccupied 1993 Ford pickup, owned by Joshua Gagnon, 29, of Peru, rolled backward into the Hammond Lumber building on Spruce street. Damage was estimated at $1,000 to the building; $2,000 to the pickup.

Arrests

All of the following are to be arraigned on Oct. 5 in Rumford District Court:

• Thomas O’Keefe, 27, of Rumford, on a charge of domestic assault, on Aug. 16. He was released on $500 unsecured bail.

• Christopher Arsenault, 37, of Dixfield, on a charge of operating under the influence, third offense, on Aug. 15. He was released on $1,000 unsecured bail.

• Carrie A. Gammon, 25, of Rumford, on a charge of operating under the influence, on Aug. 14. She was released on $700 unsecured bail.

• Randy Arnett, 34, of Lewiston, on a charge of violation of a protection-from-abuse order, on Aug. 13. He was released on $700 unsecured bail.

Summonses

All of the following are to be arraigned on Oct. 5 in Rumford District Court:

• A 17-year-old Rumford girl, on a charge of possession of alcohol by a minor, on Aug. 11.

• A 17-year-old Mexico girl, on a charge of possession of alcohol by a minor, on Aug. 11.

• Colton Cyr, 20, of Rumford, on a charge of possession of marijuana, on Aug. 11.

• Anthony Rich, 26, of Mexico, on a charge of operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
