This is in response to the article “Risking it all” that appeared in the Sun Journal on Aug. 15. That article ranks high on my list as an educational tool for motorcyclists.

Only through education about the sport, not legislation, as some profess, will riders be convinced to make the decision and choose to wear a helmet.

I own five helmets, for myself and others who wish to wear one. I am also a licensed commercial driver and know firsthand the dangers presented on Maine roads on any given day.

Again, I want to salute the men and women responsible for professional journalism.
