AUGUSTA – Kennebec Council, Girl Scouts, is accepting registration for girls ages 5 to 17. The council provides programs for approximately 11,000 girls in Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Oxford, Sagadahoc, Somerset and York counties.

Girl Scouts is a place for girls of all ages to grow strong in a supportive all-girl environment. There is a wide range of activities for girls to experience; at each level of Girl Scouts the troop activities are determined by troop leaders and the girls themselves. Some of the activities include:

Daisy Girl Scouts: visit and explore a fire station, animal farm or local park, put together a scrapbook, adopt a grandparent in a nursing home, create crafts, earn Daisy GS Petals.

Brownie Girl Scouts: hike or bike trip, visit a zoo, go on an overnight camping trip, learn about the stars, the moon and outer space, sing new songs, play new games, make new friends, be a helper and a friend.

Junior Girl Scouts: explore the outdoors on a weekend camping trip or at summer camp, go to a play at a theater and tour back stage, discover new ideas at an overnight in a museum or science center, earn a horseback riding badge, help out at a local animal shelter,k learn the latest dance steps to the latest songs.

11- to 17-year-olds: relax and relate, challenge themselves on a high ropes course, rock climbing wall or whitewater rafting, go on a Destination Adventure and travel across the country or world, earn leadership awards and scholarships, participate in fitness, fashion, and make-up seminars.
