OXFORD – Nominations for the Farm Service Agency county committee elections close on Sept. 3. Farmers are encouraged to obtain a nomination form from the Oxford County office or online at http://forms.sc.cgov.usda.gov/eforms/mainservlet.

County committees give local producers a voice in how the agency’s programs are administered in the community. They play a role by making decisions on commodity, conservation and disaster programs, along with providing guidance on other agricultural issues. Members serve three-year terms.

Almost anyone eligible to participate in an FSA program, and of legal voting age, may be a candidate. Individuals may nominate themselves or others. Voting takes place between Nov. 8 and Dec. 6.
