LEWISTON – A reward being offered for information about a home invasion on Steven Street will likely be much bigger by early next week.

It started at $2,500 on Thursday, a day after an elderly couple were confronted in their home. Local business owners got together and raised funds in hopes of generating leads to assist police in their search for the suspect.

By Friday, the daughter of the victims was rallying more support, this time from the medical community. Doctors, nurses and medical supply professionals were gathering their resources to boost the reward even higher.

The couple victimized by a masked intruder Wednesday night escaped their home by jumping from a bedroom window. The couple told police they had confronted the masked and armed intruder in their living room.

Police detectives meanwhile have released a composite drawing of the suspect. He was described as roughly six feet tall and of medium build. At the time of the break-in, he was wearing a Lone Ranger-style mask over his eyes, police said.

Investigators are asking that anyone with information to phone Detective James Theiss at 784-6422 ext. 233.
