AUGUSTA – Judith E. Bielecki has joined the Maine Office of Tourism as development project officer.

A resident of Belgrade, Bielecki was executive director at the Washburn-Norlands Living History Center in Livermore Falls from 1997 through 2003. She also served as co-director and partner for the nonprofit International Families of Lincolnville.

She also served on the board of directors of the Maine Tourism Association and is a member of the Maine Archives and Museums and the New England Museum Association.

As part of her new responsibilities, Bielecki will act as liaison to the office’s international marketing program, coordinate the annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism, work with the Maine Tourism Commission and oversee the office’s efforts in the field of arts and heritage tourism.

Bielecki, who speaks both French and Russian, has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Tufts University and a master of arts degree in Soviet studies from Harvard University.

Bielecki has a long-standing interest in Civil War history and is a member of the Joshua L. Chamberlain Civil War Roundtable in Brunswick. From 1992-2000, she was a re-enactor with the 20th Maine Regiment, Co. B, based in Brewer.
